Xpressite: Updated Release March 2
Released on March 1, 2001, Kolaco launched an updated release of their Xpressite product. This is the first release of 2001 and the first since the November 1, 2000 update last year. Features and functionality included in this release include full-text searching and activity tracking.
- Full-Text Searching: The new Xpressite functionality includes full-text search capabilities both for the single web site database and for multiple database searching. Single web site searching allows users to quickly search every word on your entire site to find all pages that contain that information. The information displayed includes a link to all the pages with a relevance ranking so users can see how many times the search words appeared in the returned pages. The multiple database searching allows you to put other databases (e.g., technical reference, news releases, articles, etc.) and allow the users to search these databases as well for the words typed in.
- Activity Tracking: The activity tracking portion of Xpressite tells you what pages have been visited, how often, when and how they go there. This is an intelligent way to analyze the activity on your site since you can see by page how much activity you are getting. Also, you can see where they are coming from so you learn the habits of your visitors.
This functionality is generally provided on a ISP basis and is usually much more limited in scope than what is now packaged with the product. Our activity tracking is much better than the reports offered by the ISP that indicate "hits" since "hits" represents files transferred. Someon could have 300 hits in a day, but if they have 10 graphics on a page and the visitors go to 5 pages each, that report translates to only six unique visitors -- although the ISPs generally dont' explain that. Our system indicates how many unique users visited your site, what pages they went to and where they came from, in english - not file name. This is a huge benefit over existing activity tracking systems, and now it comes as part of Xpressite.
Current Xpressite clients, with maintenance can automatically upgrade.
